Planmed is proud to introduce Planmed Verity® VET, a stand-alone cone beam CT scanner specifically designed for veterinary imaging. It provides highly accurate submillimeter-resolution 3D images of the animal’s bony structures, such as the teeth, skull and extremities. Its detailed volumetric images enable accurate diagnosis and treatment planning every time.

Planmed Verity® VET is a compact and mobile cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner specifically designed for veterinary imaging. The CBCT scanner provides highly accurate submillimeter-resolution 3D images of the patient’s anatomy and is designed to find even the smallest pathologies and fractures in the animal’s bony structures.

The easy-to-move and compact Planmed Verity VET scanner brings 3D imaging directly to where the patient is and can be accessed easily when needed. It is equipped with an easy-to-use graphical user interface and a mobile positioning table, which both enable precise, fast and effortless image acquisition of the patient’s teeth, skull and extremities. When not in use, the mobile scanner is easy to move around and store in another location.

The scanner is accompanied by a dedicated workstation for viewing the captured images in Planmeca Romexis® veterinary imaging software. With Romexis, the thin, sharp image slices of CBCT images can be viewed from any desired angle for detailed information.

“A lot of veterinarians are still using conventional imaging modalities, such as digital radiography or ultrasound devices. However, these modalities are fundamentally limited, as they only produce 2-dimensional projections of the 3-dimensional anatomy. We wanted to offer veterinarians a dedicated 3D imaging device which can capture the patient’s anatomy accurately and provide as much information as possible for the assessment and treatment planning,” Jan Moed, CEO of Planmed, says.

In addition to anatomically accurate images, Planmed Verity VET offers several other benefits for veterinarians as well. The fast scanning process of the CBCT scanner reduces the patient’s time under anesthesia as the image is captured in less than a minute, thus being more comfortable for the patient and allowing more time for the actual treatment. The structure of the scanner is perfect for the use on animals of different shapes and sizes and particularly suitable for imaging brachycephalic animals.

“Several clinics have already been using our medical Planmed Verity® CBCT for veterinary imaging. The new veterinary edition with the dedicated veterinary positioning table is designed to make the scanning process even easier and to meet the special needs of veterinarians. The new Planmed Verity VET of course includes all the proven features of the original Planmed Verity, such as its innovative imaging protocols which allow reducing the scanner’s already low effective patient doses without compromising diagnostic image quality,” Jan Moed concludes.
